Saint Joseph’s University Retail and Parking Facility wins award
WEST CONSHOHOCKEN, PA, MAY 2010 — Shoemaker is pleased to announce the Saint Joseph’s University Retail and Parking Facility was awarded the 2009 Grand Prize by the American Concrete Institute, Eastern Pennsylvania and Delaware Chapter, for excellence in concrete design and construction.
This project involved the design and construction of a new 450-space parking facility with street level shops, totaling 148,980 square feet of garage space and 23,950 square feet of retail. The precast concrete structure is supported on spread footers. The garage features thin brick veneer with sepia-toned limestone marble trim, sandblasted spandrels and wall panels to complement nearby historic campus buildings. Glass and stone storefronts with canopies and architectural metal gratings on upper levels complete the façade. Curtainwalls surround the elevator/stair towers, which include two glass-backed, machine room-less elevators.
The garage was designed by Timothy A. Haahs and Associates, Inc. of Blue Bell, PA.
