Strawbridge’s Building at 801 Market Street wins award

WEST CONSHOHOCKEN, PA, MAY 2010 — Shoemaker is pleased to announce the Strawbridge’s Building at 801 Market Street was awarded the 2010 Grand Jury Award by the Preservation Alliance for Greater Philadelphia.

This project involved the renovation and adaptive re-use of six floors within the historically certified building, totaling 640,000 square feet of space. Three floors were fit out as office space for the Pennsylvania Department of General Services and three floors were prepped for future multi-tenant retail use. Work entailed interior demolition and reconstruction, MEP systems replacement, installation of new windows, and elevator upgrades. Historic details were preserved while incorporating environmentally friendly building methods and materials. LEED activities included recycling, local purchasing, sustainable forestry sources, and installation of high-efficiency mechanical equipment. LEED Silver is anticipated.

This project was completed in joint venture with our MBE partner, Synterra, Ltd. The award is shared with BLT Architects of Philadelphia, PA.
