The Butz Family of Companies Community Involvement
Allentown, PA, December 7, 2017 . . . The Butz Family of Companies lives by our mission statement which includes ensuring a continued commitment to our community. Not only do we support dozens of client events throughout the year, but our employees volunteer their time and contribute financially to support many nonprofit organizations. In this article, we feature several projects where company teams demonstrated leadership qualities and stepped up to improve their communities.
These represent only a handful of the ways in which our employees have given back to the community this year. The Butz Family of Companies and its employees have always been uniquely engaged in community service. Corporate involvement in our communities is crucial to our overall success and we remain committed to sharing our time, treasures and talents with charitable organizations.
In April, Alvin H. Butz, Inc. took part in The Volunteer Challenge of 2017 to improve The Valley Youth House Shelter for children in West Bethlehem. The Butz team worked together to paint two hallways on two separate floors of the Bethlehem shelter. The goal of the project was to create a more welcoming living environment for the youth staying at the shelter. Read more.
Read to Me
Shoemaker Construction Co. participated in the Greater Philadelphia Chamber of Commerce’s 13th Annual Read to Me Early Literacy Storyteller Event in May benefiting the School District of Philadelphia. Six of our team members spent the morning reading aloud to students. Proceeds were used to purchase new and refurbished books and book bags for low-income schools, teacher training, and parent workshops. Read more.
Alexander staff recently volunteered at the Brethren House Authority shelter which supports families and teaches them life skills. Volunteers landscaped, installed doors, and painted trim, among other repairs. Alexander also recently kicked off their 2017 fundraising campaigns with the Centre County United Way and United Way of the Capital Region.
Alexander Building Construction Co. employees, friends and families participated in the American Heart Association Heart Walk in Harrisburg on October 15 to help fight heart disease. A team from Alvin H. Butz, Inc. also participated in a walk in the Lehigh Valley earlier in the month.
In November, the Allentown School District asked for help in gathering personal items, school supplies, and warm coats, hats, and gloves for the student evacuees arriving to the Lehigh Valley from Puerto Rico. In addition to the requested items, the employees of Alvin H. Butz, Inc. donated a sizeable amount of cash - enough to purchase 100 coats for the students!
CAN you believe it? After countless designing and planning hours, 20,000+ Snacks Packs (pudding and jello) and 10 hours of construction, Roberson Butz Architects, in partnership with Alvin H. Butz, Inc., created a replica of Calvin and Hobbes at the Lehigh Valley Mall. The food used in creating all of the participants' displays was donated to Second Harvest Food Bank.
