Shoemaker Celebrates Topping-Out of Seven Tower Bridge

Philadelphia, PA, Thursday, July 16, 2020 . . . Shoemaker Construction Co., as part of The Butz Family of Companies, is pleased to announce the completion of the Industrious Philadelphia Fashion District project in Center City.

Industrious is the largest premium flexible workspace provider and leading work-from-anywhere platform in the U.S. with nearly 100 locations in more than 50 cities. Their design features modern, glass-walled private offices oriented around shared spaces, including conference rooms, huddle rooms, phone and wellness rooms, cafés and amenity spaces.

Located on the third level of Fashion District Philadelphia, the space includes:

  • 47,000 square-foot office fit-out
  • 160 glass-walled private offices and suites
  • Shared and common co-working spaces
  • Common amenity and productivity spaces
  • New skylights
  • Updated façade
Located inside an active mall, close communication was required to minimize disturbance and protect the safety of workers, tenants and mall patrons. Exterior renovations also needed to be coordinated with stakeholders including the replacement of the fa├žade directly above 10th Street and behind a billboard.

"Shoemaker's team did a fantastic job managing the project's fast-paced, five-month schedule while ensuring the highest quality throughout the space" said Alan Vurgait, Industrious' National Project Manager.

Work was suspended for five weeks during the coronavirus pandemic until construction was determined to be essential, at which time precautions were implemented beyond CDC recommendations to ensure the safety of the entire workforce. We successfully completed the project with no positive cases of COVID-19.

"Shoemaker is proud to have helped Industrious realize its vision for a thriving workplace at Fashion District Philadelphia," said Maura Hesdon, General Manager of Shoemaker Construction Co. "This location, which we are familiar with from our previous work at the mall from 8th to 11th Streets, is ideally suited for Industrious members because of its proximity to Philadelphia's vibrant downtown."

Pre-construction activities started in September 2019 and construction was completed in May 2020. Newmark Knight Frank represented Industrious and NORR Architects and Engineers was the designer.
