The firm ranked #237 on the list and up 40 spots from the previous year despite the unique challenges 2020 presented. Shoemaker-Skanska Joint Venture receives GBCA Award for Fashion District Philadelphia

The Joint Venture of Skanska USA Building and Shoemaker Construction Co., recently received an award from the General Building Contractors Association (GBCA) for Best Adaptive Re-Use Project for Fashion District Philadelphia. GBCA's Construction Excellence Awards is Philadelphia's premier construction awards program, recognizing excellence in construction and safety, and is dedicated to creating greater awareness throughout the region of the quality workmanship produced by GBCA member companies. The Best Adaptive Re-Use Project recognizes a project which has taken an existing building and/or space and enhanced/or created an entirely new use for the space. Read the full press release.

Butz Family of Companies receives two CMAA National Awards

The Butz Family of Companies received two 2020 Construction Management Association of America (CMAA) National Project Achievement Awards. The Parkland School District Veterans Memorial Elementary School project received an award for Education Projects less than $50 million. Shoemaker Holds a Safety Stand-down at Seven Tower Bridge

A Safety Standdown was held at the Seven Tower Bridge / Hamilton Lane jobsites today. A representative from Sunbelt Rentals spoke to workers about fall protection and the importance of wearing the proper harness. Brown bag lunches were provided afterwards as a way to thank the workers.

Shoemaker Completes Industrious Philadelphia Fashion District Project

Shoemaker Construction Co. is pleased to announce the completion of the Industrious Philadelphia Fashion District project in Center City. Shoemaker Celebrates Topping-Out of Seven Tower Bridge

Shoemaker Construction Co. and Seven Tower Bridge co-developers Partners Group, on behalf of its clients, Oliver Tyrone Pulver Corporation, and American Real Estate Partners (AREP) recently honored the topping off tradition for this marquee project in Conshohocken. In a socially distant fashion, team members signed the final steel beam before the crane lifted it over 170 feet to be secured by ironworkers to complete the building's 14-story frame. Butz Family of Companies promotes Wendy Silfies to Project Accounting Manager

The Butz Family of Companies announces the promotion of Wendy Silfies to Project Accounting Manager. As the Project Accounting Manager for the Butz Family of Companies, Silfies leads the Alvin H Butz Inc, Alexander Building Construction and Shoemaker Construction project accounting teams. She is responsible for ensuring timely processing of project budgets, project disbursements, job cost entries and monthly customer invoices. Read the full press release.

Winter 2020

Shoemaker Completes Construction of Philadelphia Housing Authority North Central Phase III

Shoemaker Construction Co. recently completed construction of the Philadelphia Housing Authority's North Central Phase III Development project. The 83,340 SF project consisted of a single site located in the North Central Neighborhood. Eight existing two- and three-story brick buildings, including underground utilities, parking lots, and plaza areas were demolished making way for new construction. Construction included nine distinct types of dwelling units, totaling fifty new units in six three-story apartment buildings, including twenty-six two-story and three-story townhouses. The residential building structure is wood frame, with standard brick veneer and metal panels on street facing facades. A two-story community building of mixed-use occupancy was constructed. Tenant units are LEED for Homes Certified and has received Enterprise Green Communities Certification. The goal of the Community Center is to achieve LEED Silver Certification.
