Shoemaker Construction Co. hires three new project managers to oversee construction of three major projects in Philadelphia

Shoemaker Construction Co., as part of The Butz Family of Companies, is pleased to announce the hiring of James Litzke, John Morris and Joseph Galvin as project managers. As project managers, they will work with preconstruction services staff and design teams to develop project schedules, construction plans and project phasing. During construction, they will be responsible for managing and directing work as well as interfacing directly with clients to ensure their needs are continually met or surpassed. Shoemaker Construction Co. hires new project engineer

Shoemaker Construction Co., as part of The Butz Family of Companies, is pleased to announce the hiring of Frank Cimato as a project engineer.

Cimato has a Master of Science degree in Construction Management and a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from Drexel University. He earned his Professional Engineering License and is Hazardous Site Safety trained. Read the full press release.

Shoemaker Construction Co. hires new team members

Shoemaker Construction Co., as part of The Butz Family of Companies, is pleased to announce the hiring of Wyatt Hall as a project engineer and Damon Walker as a site safety manager.

Hall has a Masters in Construction Management, with a concentration in Sustainable Green Construction from Drexel University and a Bachelor of Science degree in Geology from Juniata College. Walker has more than 10 years of experience as a construction professional and is a certified OSHA Instructor. Read the full press release.

The Butz Family of Companies, consisting of Alexander Building Construction Co., Alvin H. Butz, Inc. and Shoemaker Construction Co., moved up three spots to #326 on Engineering News-Record's (ENR) list of the Top 400 Contractors and ranked #40 on the Top 50 Mid-Atlantic Contracting Firms list in 2017. The firm has been consistently ranked among the Top 400 contractors in the United States for more than 16 years. Read the full press release.

Maura Hesdon officially welcomed as a member into The Carpenters' Company of the City and County of Philadelphia

Maura Hesdon, General Manager for Shoemaker Construction Co., a Butz Family Company, was recently accepted into The Carpenters' Company of the City and County of Philadelphia. Maura was proposed for membership in the Company, and was endorsed by two additional members. The entire membership then elected to vote her into the organization. Since 1724, there have been just over nine hundred members in its almost three centuries of existence.

Maura has eighteen years of experience in the construction management industry, all of which have been with Shoemaker. Along with being the co-founder of Mentoring a Girl in Construction (MAGIC) Philadelphia, she served on the National Board of Directors for the National Association of Women in Construction (NAWIC) and is a past President of the NAWIC Philadelphia Chapter. Shoemaker Construction Co. participates in Read to Me Early Literacy Storyteller Event

Shoemaker Construction Co., part of The Butz Family of Companies, participated in the Greater Philadelphia Chamber of Commerce's 13th Annual Read to Me Early Literacy Storyteller Event benefiting Philadelphia schools.

The Storyteller event is part of the annual Read to Me Early Literacy Program, which provides classroom book collections to thousands of students. The program inspires children to read with their parents, caregivers and teachers. It also provides teacher orientations to train educators on how to effectively utilize the program in their classrooms and encourage family members to read to their children at home. The Butz Family of Companies Participates in the National Safety Stand-Down To Prevent Falls in Construction

To coincide with OSHA's National Stand-down to Prevent Falls in Construction week, the Butz Family of Companies held safety stand-downs at multiple project jobsites last week. Led by our Safety Directors, project teams, including superintendents, foremen, managers, and subcontractors, participated in voluntary safety meetings which focused on fall hazards and the many ways workers can take actively take the necessary steps to eliminate falling risks inside the work zone. Shoemaker Skanska Joint Venture Signs OSHA Partnership at Fashion Outlets Philadelphia

The joint venture of Shoemaker Construction Co. and Skanska USA and the Philadelphia Area Office of the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) have announced a strategic partnership during construction of Fashion Outlets Philadelphia. OSHA's Strategic Partnership Program helps encourage, assist and recognize voluntary partner efforts to eliminate serious workplace hazards.

A signing ceremony was held May 4th to coincide with Safety Week, a weeklong celebration of the construction industry's ongoing commitment to an injury free workplace. Read the full press release.

Shoemaker Construction Co. hires new team members

Shoemaker Construction Co., as part of The Butz Family of Companies, is pleased to announce the hiring of Andrew Dougherty as a superintendent, and Cole Smith as a quantity surveyor.

Dougherty attended Drexel University with a Concentration in Architectural Design and a Minor in Construction Management. He has more than 40 years of progressive construction industry experience, with a strong track record of discovering potential obstacles early in a project as well as saving clients time and money. He is a certified Safety Officer, Green Advantage certified and has earned both OSHA 10 and 30 certifications.

Smith will graduate from Gwynedd Mercy University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting and Finance. He is actively involved in many leadership activities and organizations and is a member of the Pennsylvania Institute of Certified Public Accountants (PICPA). Read the full press release.

Shoemaker Construction Co. Hires Site Safety Manager

Shoemaker Construction Co., as part of The Butz Family of Companies, is pleased to announce the hiring of Michael Gavaghan as a site safety manager.

Gavaghan is pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree in Occupational Safety & Health from Columbia Southern University and is First Aid and CPR certified. He brings more than 15 years of professional safety experience gained in the United States Air Force to the project team and is currently actively flying in the United States Air Force Reserves. Maintaining the safety of our jobsites is one of our top priorities at The Butz Family of Companies. As such, we are constantly looking for ways to not only improve the quality of safety on our jobsites, but also praise those individuals who best exemplify this commitment to safety.

Just recently, superintendents from Alexander Building Construction Co., Alvin H. Butz, Inc., and Shoemaker Construction Co. got together for our annual safety awards events. Hosted by Tyrone Reed, Corporate Safety Director and Darren Rech, Safety Director, the award ceremonies honored superintendents from the three companies who went above and beyond in their duties to ensure their worksite was as safe as possible.
